Every month, it seems like we open up our social media apps and there it is… another update or feature we have to learn about! During these last couple of months, social media platforms are focusing more than ever on their users’ needs and how to improve social interactions while social distancing.
We’re here to reveal the latest updates and trends on the major platforms so that you can stay on top of your social media game!
Adds Live Donations Feature for Fundraising via Instagram Live
Just last week, Instagram launched a new fundraising option within Instagram Live, which enables users to raise funds during an Instagram Live stream! In addition to this, Instagram is also looking to boost awareness for Live fundraisers by using a new ‘I Donated’ sticker that people can add to their Stories. This is just another way that Instagram is looking to help organizations and businesses who have been greatly impacted by COVID-19. On top of ALL this, Instagram is currently testing an option that would enable you to simulcast your IG Live streams over to your Facebook Page – meaning you’ll be broadcasting to your audiences on both platforms at the same time. Talk about killing two birds with one stone! Needless to say, live streams are at an all-time high right now so take advantage!
Tests a New “DM Me” Sticker
Instagram just recently rolled out their new ‘DM Me’ sticker for Stories, which prompts direct message engagement from your Story content by tapping on the sticker. This is a great addition in our eyes! Instead of posting a Story and asking for people to shoot you a DM, this sticker is a creative way to make instant engagement even more instant! Instagram is also looking to push the DM sticker as an engagement measure for users. New Video Tool: Messenger Rooms
One of the biggest additions that Facebook announced last week was Messenger Rooms! Think of it like a Zoom call except there is no limit on time. You can schedule a Room call or start one at any time with active users. This is just another great way to stay connected with family and friends, especially if you don’t have a Zoom plan!
Tests Out Online Events with Live
For those who work in the event industry (our people – we love you!!), Facebook is working on creating a Live video stream for events that includes a charge fee for viewers to join. This new feature is meant to help and support businesses that rely on in-person services. Nothing is official yet, but we believe this could be extremely beneficial for businesses who are on the fence about postponing or possibly cancelling their in-person events in the upcoming months… #PostponeDontCancel!
Stepping Up Their Game with Stories!
It was only a matter of time before the Story feature would make its way around to multiple platforms! And we are HERE FOR IT! It’s been announced that LinkedIn will have a version of the Stories format allowing businesses and brands to share content that will remain active for 24 hours. The ability to share and push relevant content on LinkedIn Stories will give you the opportunity to showcase your brand’s personality and culture and engage with your audience like never before! For all of you who think LinkedIn is boring or only for job hunting, think again!
