Are you on LinkedIn? Considering that you are reading this blog, the chances are pretty good that you are!
Believe it or not, LinkedIn has actually been around longer than Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Crazy to imagine, right?! It probably explains why most of you don’t even remember your LinkedIn password… hey, no judgement here!
From maintaining your personal brand to creating new professional relationships, LinkedIn is more relevant now than ever. It’s a devastating and frustrating time for nearly all of us right now. Even though you aren’t able to attend public events to network with others or enjoy a weeknight happy hour to build connections, you can still socialize and get in touch with your community from the comfort of your couch!
Here are some ways you can leverage LinkedIn to engage with customers, clients, and potential business partners:
Join Groups – there are over 1 million groups on LinkedIn so there is no excuse! It’s a valuable tool to use to brand yourself as an expert in an industry or topic, and to gain insight and knowledge. You can always find a group that is relevant to your industry so that you’re connecting with people who have similar interests!
Follow Other Companies – if you’re following clients, customers, vendors or business partners on other social media platforms, make sure you’re also following them on LinkedIn to stay connected! Kind of a no-brainer, right?!
Send Friendly Messages – if you’re connecting with someone for the first time, try to steer clear of the default message. Instead, make it more personal by writing a little bit about yourself, your company and why you’re interested in connecting. You can also send a message to a mentor, colleague, or business partner just to simply touch base and catch up! The more you put yourself out there, the more you are going to get in return.
Share Conversation-Worthy Content – social media is all about shareable content, and LinkedIn is no different! If you have a blog, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be sharing your posts on your profile or to different groups on LinkedIn. If you don’t have a blog, you can still share valuable content! Find articles that are relevant to your industry and encourage people to comment on them. The more comments and likes a post gets, the more often it will show up in the newsfeed and open you up to a whole new audience!
Comment on Posts – the platform gets over 2 billion network updates viewed weekly. INSANE! Do a quick scan and see if anything relates to your industry or if there is anything you have knowledge about, and let your knowledge shine! It will help to brand you as an expert in a certain industry or topic, help brand your business and introduce you to new people.
If you’ve been wondering how important LinkedIn could actually be, then hopefully this post has convinced you it’s one of your most powerful professional tools! With it, you can build and maintain your network, engage with your community and build your professional reputation.
Plus, it’s FREE! So, why wait?! Take this time to polish those profiles and link up with your community! Stay connected, stay social and most importantly, stay healthy! Don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and send us a message – we’d love to connect with you!
