Tips for Finding Your Target Audience
Social media has brought people closer together than ever before, making it easy for everyone to connect more closely and frequently. More interaction means more opportunities, especially for business owners! That being said, it only works if you can find the people you’re trying to reach.

Tip #1: Know Your Audience
To truly know who your target audience is, you have to ask yourself, “who is my ideal client?” Where do they shop? What music do they listen to? Where do they live? What type of work do they do? Ok, you get the idea! Once you define your specific audience, you’ll be able to figure out what social media platforms your potential customers or clients are using and what kind of marketing is likely to reach, and more importantly, resonate with them!
Tip #2: Understand Each Platform
Before you can start creating content, you need to understand the platforms you’re going to be using and which platforms are worth your time! If you haven’t noticed by now, visual and video-based platforms like Instagram and YouTube are quickly overtaking text-based platforms. Find the intersection of which platforms suit you and your brand AND are the platforms most likely to be used by your Target Audience. Tip #3: Keep An Eye on the Competition
One of the easiest ways to get a grasp on what kind of marketing works best for you is by keeping an eye on what your competition is up to on their accounts. Get a feel for what campaigns your competitors are running and how their audience reacts to them. Doing this will also help you get an idea of ideal times to post and interact with your target demographic!
Pro Tip: Don’t just look at your competition. Look at aligned groups and organizations that your Target Audience is likely to follow to get even more insights.
Tip #4: Adapt Your Content
If you create content, customers will come! Okay, reality check: it’s not that simple! The key here is to create the right type of content to entice your target audience into engagement. The content you create needs to suit the platform you’re using. For example, a successful image-based post on Instagram may not work as well on Facebook. Adapt your content accordingly while maintaining consistent branding across all platforms!
