How to Make Your Social Media Assets Work Harder

Listen up friends, we’re about to share one of our biggest Social Media secrets: re-contenting. We know how challenging it can be to continuously find new photos and videos to use for your Social Media posts – but what if we told you it doesn’t have to be?  Somewhere along the line, we’ve all been made to think that we can only post a photo or video once and then never use it again. Well, we’re here to tell you that’s just not true!  You can absolutely reuse existing content, while still keeping it engaging for your followers and not becoming repetitive.

The most important thing to consider when re-contenting an asset is timing. When you re-use an asset, there should be several weeks that have passed since you last used it. If someone scrolls your feed or watches your story highlights, they shouldn’t be able to quickly come across the asset again.

Once you’ve selected an asset to re-content, it’s time to spice it up. Can the photo be cropped to focus on a different element? If it was used in a story, can it be reused in your feed or vice versa? Can you turn it into a graphic? Get creative!

  

Another way to recycle is to focus on a different aspect within the photo. For example, you can use a flat lay of a bag with items to talk about one or more of the items in the photo, how to style a flat lay, or even create an engaging post about what’s in your bag and ask your followers to comment back!

Keep in mind that an organic post only gets seen by 4-7% of your followers, which means 93% of your followers probably didn’t even see your post the first time around! Remember, it’s all about working smarter, not harder.
