How to Create an Instagram Business Account

Last week, we chatted all about the major benefits of an Instagram Business profile. Now, we’re showing you just how simple it is to set your profile up for success! It’s easy as 1, 2, 3… literally!

3 Easy Steps to Switch your Personal Account to a Business Account

      •         1) Go to your profile Settings and tap on Account. At the bottom, select Switch to Professional Account
      •         2) Choose a Category that best describes your business
      •         3) Tap Done. Yep, it’s that easy!

(Optional) If you want to connect your Instagram business account to your Facebook business page, follow the prompts to do so. You must have admin access to your business Facebook page to take this action.

Now that you’ve officially made the switch over to a business account, it’s time to optimize your profile for the best results. Here are some quick tips to help you get started:

Tip 1: Tweak Your Bio
Think of your bio as your 10-second elevator pitch. It needs to tell first-time visitors who you are, what your brand is all about, and why they should care about your business!

Use your brand voice to convey personality

Select a category – now that you have a business account, select the category that best fits your industry so people can quickly identify what you do

Include hashtags – Instagram bio hashtags are clickable, and are a great way to show off user-generated content!

Use brand-aligned emojis – this is just another way to add personality and character

Use spacing and line breaks – create bullet points to highlight the main differentiators that make your business unique!

Create a Linktree or Linkin.bio – these tools allow you to create one link that drives traffic to multiple links

Tip 2: Optimize Your Profile Picture
For most businesses, the best profile picture to use is a version of your logo. Use the same picture you use on other social profiles to keep everything consistent and help people instantly identify your brand

Tip 3: Take Advantage of the Business Features

  • Contact information – include your email address, phone number, or physical address so users can connect with you directly from your profile

  • Call-to-action buttons – you know we love a good call to action! These handy buttons allow users to book an appointment, make reservations, buy tickets, and more, right from your Instagram profile. (Tip: From your profile, tap Edit Profile > Contact Options > Add an action button)
