Getting Pin-ny With It! – PART 3

If you’ve been following our PIN-travaganza blog series, then you know we’ve talked all things pin optimization in the previous 2 posts! We’ve been focusing primarily on searching for keywords and using those keywords in your pin titles and descriptions. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, then you can find our first two posts here and here! Now, we’re going to finally talk about everyone’s favorite part of Pinterest…

IMAGES!

Remember we talked about Pixie (Pinterest’s AI) in our last post? When it comes to the images we use for our pins, we need Pixie to nail what our pins are about. But Pixie doesn’t always get it right! So how can we find out if Pinterest is reading our images correctly before we create the pin?

EXPERT TIP ALERT!

CREATE A SECRET BOARD!

You can call it “Test” and from there you can upload your raw images without any editing or text overlay. This will help you see how Pinterest reads the image alone. Now, look at the “More Like This” section when you click on your new test pin and see if those images match your pin. If they do, Pixie is reading it correctly! Wahoo! If the images aren’t similar to yours, then you need to try a different image.

TIPS TO MAKE YOUR PIN PIN-TASTIC!

Text overlay is a fantastic way to get people’s attention and call them to action! You can also use your keywords in your text overlay! This is especially helpful if your image isn’t quite up to par with Pixie’s standards; the keywords will help index your pin better.

Wow! You did it! You are now a Pinterest expert, now go pin like the wind!

P.S. We’ll be sharing ‘what to do, if after all of this, your pin still bombed’ on our Instagram this week! Be sure to follow us @bintertwined!
