It’s no surprise that organic reach has been declining for quite some time now. With more and more people utilizing a paid strategy on social media, others are struggling to be seen on social media. If this sounds like you, it may be time to start thinking about paying to play on your platforms! In this post, we’re teaching you all the basics about boosted posts and Facebook ads, and when to use one versus the other.
SOCIAL MEDIA ADVERTISING
If you’re looking to build brand awareness, increase website traffic, and up your sales, social media advertising is the way to go! Unlike Instagram, Facebook advertising is the most targeted form of advertising because it allows you to customize the content, headline, call to action, and more! If your goal is to drive revenue and reach people who are more likely to buy your product or service, Facebook is your ideal platform for advertising! Here are some tips to get you started:
Know your audience – one mistake that many new Facebook advertisers make is they try to reach as many people as possible with their ad. Don’t get distracted by all of the options Facebook Advertising gives you! it may feel wrong to target a smaller group of people, but in the long run, that’s how you create more conversions!
Use high-quality content – whether you’re looking to generate a lead or sell a product or service, having high-quality content goes a long way! People process images quicker than copy, so it’s important to create an effective and engaging Facebook ad that will capture your audience’s attention.
Practice makes perfect – it’s important to test different versions of your ads to find out which one works best for your business. Set a small budget, test out different versions adjusting one variable at a time (image, copy, target audience, etc), and compare the results. This will allow you to figure out which strategy you need to invest in moving forward!
How can you grow your social media following significantly each month? The simple answer: set a monthly advertising budget for your platforms and start boosting your content! If you’re looking for the most effective way to spread awareness for your brand or attract attention to a particular post, boosting on Instagram is your new BFF! By focusing your boosted efforts on Instagram, you’ll have a better chance at increasing brand awareness and getting more eyeballs on your profile. Here are some of our tips to help you get started:
Boost Best Performing posts – if you are boosting a static image, boost the ones that have been engaged with the most. Since these posts performed so well organically, they are likely to perform even BETTER with some money behind them!
Get your timing right – our #1 rule is to give a post AT LEAST 12-24 hours to perform organically before throwing money down. If you boost immediately after posting, you end up spending money on likes and comments that you would’ve already received organically. This totally defeats the purpose! Give the post time to perform on its own before boosting. Trust us, you’ll get more bang for your buck!
Test! Test! Test! – some social media gurus suggest boosting fewer posts per month with more money behind each. While others swear by the ‘make it rain’ strategy boosting more posts but with smaller spends. To be honest… we’ve seen success with both strategies pending on the industry and client. So, be sure to test what works best for your brand!
Now that you have learned some of the basics, it’s time to start playing with the big dogs! Once you’ve figured out your goals and targeted audience, you can decide whether to run Facebook ads, boosted posts on Instagram, or both!
